Fire Call

On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 23, at approximately 4:51 p.m., the Storm Lake Fire Department responded to Methodist Manor located at 1206 West 4th Street in reference to an automated fire alarm.

Upon arrival of fire fighters they determined that a fire alarm pull station had been activated in the dining hall.

There was no fire and no damage.

The fire department was on scene for approximately 10 minutes and was assisted at the scene by the Storm Lake Police Department and Methodist Manor staff.

Theft

On the evening of Monday, October 22, at approximately 9:02 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Wal-Mart Store in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival of police they met with store staff who alleged that they were detaining a woman who had stolen approximately $46 in merchandise.

Following an investigation police arrested the woman, identified as Alyssa Engelke, age 21, of Storm Lake. She was charged with Theft 5th Degree and booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.

Harassment

On the evening of Monday, October 22, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to 605B West 8th Street in reference to a harassment.

Upon arrival of police they met with the reporting party who alleged that another male at the residence had made harassing and threatening comments towards the reporting party.

Following an investigation police arrested Julio Hernandez, age 57 of Storm Lake, and charged him with Harassment. He was booked into the county jail on a $300 cash bond.

Theft 5th Degree

On the afternoon of Tuesday, October 23, at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Wal-Mart Store in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival of police they met with store staff who alleged that they were detaining a woman who had stolen approximately $18 in merchandise.

Following an investigation police arrested the woman, identified as Pamela Tentinger, age 58, of Marcus. She was charged with Theft 5th Degree and booked into the county jail on a $300 cash bond.

2 year old child found walking alone

On the morning of Tuesday, October 23, at approximately 9:30 a.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the 600 block of Russell Street in reference to a 2 year old child that was found wandering around the neighborhood.

Upon arrival of police they determined that the child belonged to the residence located at 610 Russell Street and police alleged that the child's mother fell asleep at which time the child exited the home and started walking around until stopped by a concerned citizen.

Following an investigation police arrested the mother, identified as Gloria Samuel, age 27 of Storm Lake, and charged her with Child Endangerment (aggravated misdemeanor). She was booked into the county jail on a $2,000 cash bond.

A report was filed with the Iowa Department of Human Services. The child was unharmed and placed in the custody of a family member.

Teenager under the influence of Marijuana

On the evening of Tuesday, October 23, at approximately 8:09 p.m., a Storm Lake Police Officer while on patrol observed a juvenile male acting in a suspicious manner near the intersection of East 5th Street and Hudson Street.

Police made contact with the juvenile, identified as a 15 year old male of Storm Lake. Police allege the juvenile was under the influence of marijuana.

Police arrested the juvenile male and charged him with Public Intoxication. He was processed and released to a parent.

The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.

Theft at Wal-Mart

On the evening of Tuesday, October 23, at approximately 9:45 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Wal-Mart Store in reference to a theft.

Upon arrival of police they met with store staff who were detaining an adult female who they alleged stole approximately $33 in merchandise.

Following an investigation police arrested the woman, identified as Miranda Pickett, age 21 of Holstein, and charged her with Theft 5th Degree. She was booked into the county jail on a $300 cash bond.
