Of the two candidates for the Iowa Sixth Senate District, Mark Segebart has the background for the job.
He understands the agricultural economy upon which the Sixth District depends. He's a sixth generation farmer and a leader in area ag organizations so he knows the challenges facing agribusinesses. He's been a leader in agriculture as a past president of the Crawford County Cattlemen's Association and as a member of the Iowa Corn Growers Association, Iowa Soybean Association and the Iowa Farm Bureau.
And as a Crawford County Supervisor who's been re-elected three times, Mark understands the services that local governments must provide and that can be provided most efficiently at the county level or through multi-county cooperation. He's past chair of the WESCO Industries board of directors, which provides supported employment for handicapped adults in Audubon, Carroll, Crawford, Shelby and Crawford counties, a member of the Crawford County Early Childhood Center Board, a member of the Buena Vista, Crawford & Sac Early Childhood Iowa board and a past member of the Crawford County Board of Health.
Thus, he knows the Sixth District, having been active in providing services across the area.
At a time when Iowa and the nation MUST balance their budgets and live within their means, we need a fiscal conservative... who not only talks the talk but will walk the walk in the real world; not someone who will have to learn on the job.
