CEDAR RAPIDS - The Buena Vista women's tennis team wrapped up its fall schedule at the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) Tournament, and the Beavers had a strong showing at the event with several players advancing into the rounds of 16.
Haley Henrichs picked up and 8-6 victory in the Flight B singles bracket before being edged 7-5, 6-0 in the round of 16.
Amanda Kavan, Tash Nelson and Kassidy Ipsen all made it into the round of 16 in Flight C singles play with Kavan and Nelson and Ipsen all winning again to secure a spot into the quarterfinals. Kavan was then edged in a 9-8 (7-4) tiebreaker with Ipsen coming up short 8-6.
Nelson, who entered the tournament with only one win on the year, kept her bid for a trip into the championship match alive with an 8-6 triumph, but then came up short in the semifinals, 8-5. She would come back for a shot a third place, but fell in the consolation match, 8-4.
Ipsen finishes the fall with a team-best 8-6 overall singles record.
In doubles play, the Beavers had all three of their Flight B doubles teams win their first round matches to advance into the round of 16. All three, however, were then edged in their quest to play into the quarterfinals.
Ipsen and Amanda Kavan teamed up with win a team-high three doubles matches overall this season.
