Melvin Pudenz, age 60, of Storm Lake, died October 1, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee.

Melvin Elmer Pudenz was born September 15, 1952 in Carroll, the son of Raymond and Bernetta (Naberhaus) Pudenz. On September 21, 1952, Melvin was baptized at St. Columbkille Catholic Church in Varina, where he was later confirmed on May 3, 1959.

Growing up, he attended school and graduated from OLGC in 1970. Following high school graduation, he attended Iowa Lake Community College where he graduated in 1972.

On September 17, 1983 Melvin was united in marriage to Cynthia Stoneking at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Together, they were blessed with two children, Christine and Brandon.

Melvin loved to help on the family farm. He worked as a service manager at Hultgren Gerlach for 30 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed traveling. Family was very important to Melvin and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Cindy Pudenz of Storm Lake; children: Christine Pudenz and Brandon Pudenz of Storm Lake; mother, Bernetta Pudenz of Pocahontas; brothers: Ronald (Carolyn) Pudenz of Pocahontas; Ralph Pudenz of Pocahontas; sisters: Marita Wile of Minburn; Patricia (Karl) Hollman of Burnside; extended family and many friends.

Melvin was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Pudenz; brother-in-law, Rick Wile; and niece, Valerie Hollman.
