Tornado swimming splits home meet with Spencer, Algona
STORM LAKE - The Storm Lake girl's swimming team hosted Senior Night at Finkbine Natatorium on Buena Vista campus Thursday night, with the Tornadoes topping Algona, 53-37, and falling to Spencer, 51-39.
"We swam well," said Storm Lake head coach Kari Dyer. "I was happy with our performances."
The Tornadoes opened with a first place finish in both duals in the 200 medley as Destini Oehertz, Maili Todd, Joy Bral and Keely Soellner were first at 2:04.25. Bral was first in the 50 free at 26.09, Soellner was first in the 100 free at 59.18, and Oehertz was first in the 100 back at 1:07.91.
The 400 free relay of Casey Larson, Marie Hardt, Alex Larson and Todd were second against Spencer and first against Algona at 4:29.09. Todd was first in the breast stroke against Spencer at 1:21.00, the 200 free relay of Todd, Oehertz, Bral and Soellner was first against Algona at 1:47.22, Soellner was first against Algona in the 200 free at 2:11.28, Oehertz was second in the 200 IM at 2:38.20, Alejandra Castillo was second in the 500 free at 7:02.34, Alex Larson was third in the 100 breast against Spencer at 1:26.89, the 200 free relay of Halie Larson, Larson, Larson and Ashlnn Jarvis was third against Algona at 2:00.87, Marie Hardt was third against Algona in the 500 free at 7:06.04 and third against Algona in the 100 fly 1:17.79, Casey Larson was third in the 50 free at 29.13, Jarvis was third against Spencer in the 200 IM at 2:50.34, and the 200 medley relay of Jarvis, Larson, Hardt and Larson were third at 2:18.69.
The Tornadoes are back in the pool on Tuesday night when they head to Carroll.
