ALTA - The Alta-Aurelia cross country teams impressed on their home course Monday, with the girls taking first overall and the boys second.
The A-A girls turned in a score of 51, with Sibley-Ocheyedan following at 67, and Sioux Central was third at 73. South O'Brien edged the Warriors boys 42-45. Manson Northwest Webster followed at third with a score of 56.
"We ran the best we have run all season," said A-A head coach Wendell Larson. "Our girls first place finish was a great accomplishment. I am very proud of how well we competed tonight. We need to build on this and get even more hungry to enable us to cut times. It was a great night for the Alta-Aurelia Warriors."
Chayce Glienke led the A-A girls with a sixth place showing at 17:56. Reghan Harms followed in 11th (18:46), Steph Robbins was 12th (19:00), Katie Post 13th (19:02), Ali Turnquist 18th (19:37), Abby Hill 22nd (19:50) and Laura Holmes 38th (21:57).
Ross Friedrich led the Warrior boys at 8th place (18:29). Tyler Larson was ninth (18:38), Jayson Van Haaften 10th (18:47), Michael Swanson 12th (18:58), Sean Berg 13th (19:04), Titus Letzring 14th (19:13) and Nathan Flaherty 25th (19:59).
The Warriors are next in action Saturday in Pocahontas.
