Dorothy Theresa Grund was born December 6, 1925, at Laurens. She was the daughter of Joseph and Franziska (Deutsch) Grund. She attended Ware Consolidated School and graduated from Marathon High School in 1944. She went on to secretarial school in Omaha, Neb. In 1948, Dorothy married Harold Meister. Dorothy worked as a secretary at Hakes Foods in Laurens and later as a production worker for Bilmar Foods in Storm Lake, retiring in 1995.
Dorothy was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens. She enjoyed playing the accordion, Spicy Farkle and collecting beanie babies with her grandchildren. She traveled to Texas and Chicago where she enjoyed spending time with her son.
Survivors include her children, Steve Meister of Marathon; Leroy Meister of Webb; Dan Meister of Marathon; Angie (Joe) McKenna of Storm Lake and Frank Meister of Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren, Samantha McKenna, Josh McKenna, Joel McKenna; Daniel Meister and Diana Meister; three great-grandchildren, Demetri Meister, Ava Meister and Emma Meister; brothers, Lewis Grund of Northwood, and John Grund of Emmons, Minn.; sister, Betty Grund of Minneapolis, Minn.; and special friends, Jeff Yerro, Angie Wheeler, Sylvia Burns and Zoe. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Melvin and Bill Grund.
