A Storm Lake juvenile jumped from a third-floor balcony in an attempt to escape from police responding to a disturbance at an early-morning party Saturday.
The teenager was not injured, and was caught and arrested a short time later.
Officers were called to 1409 Seneca Street shortly after 2 a.m. on a report that several people were refusing to leave the complex. As officers arrived, they met four women leaving the building, who told police they had all been physically assaulted in apartment #42.
An investigation determined that the women arrived at the apartment complex for an after-hours party and became involved in a disturbance with two men. Six or more people were reportedly fighting.
Police identified the women and charged them all with Disorderly Conduct and Public Intoxication. They were all booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $600 cash bond each.
Police located a fifth subject in a vehicle in the parking lot at the apartments. Faheem Boutte, age 21 of Storm Lake, was charged with Disorderly Conduct. Police further learned he was wanted on the charge of Contempt of Court out of Buena Vista County. Boutte was booked into the county jail and held without bond.
The 17-year old male attempted to flee after jumping from the third story, but was located a few blocks from the apartment. The teenager was charged with two counts of Assault, Interference With Official Acts and Public Intoxication. He was transported to the Youth Detention Facility in Cherokee, pending a court date.
While still at the complex police encountered a seventh person identified as Paulino Owana, age 26 of Omaha, very intoxicated and apparently looking for the party. He was booked into jail on a Public Intoxication charge.
No injuries were reported.
