STORM LAKE - On Thursday, August 20th, Cherokee native and former NFL offenisve lineman with Packers and Rams Adam Timmerman paid a visit to Storm Lake to speak with the youth football teams.

Dave Drey lined up a package for the St. Mary's Ball for Adam Timmerman to meet and autograph a football for someone. Andy and Lisa Hurd were the high bidders on this package at the St. Mary's Ball last Spring and decided to suprise their son Chase on his birthday this past Thursday.

Timmerman is a retired American football guard in the National Football League, and Super Bowl champion for the St. Louis Rams and Green Bay Packers. Timmerman, a native of Cherokee, IA, went to four Super Bowls in his career, winning Super Bowl XXXI with the Packers and Super Bowl XXXIV with the Rams.

Storm Lake has a Youth Football League for grades 3-4 and 5-6, coached by many volunteer parents from the area.

Adam came to sign the football for Chase Hurd, and took time to speak with each of the Storm Lake teams. He sends an inspiring message to youth, reminding them how important education, sportsmanship, christianity, and respect are to make up an individual.

Adam graciously handed around all four of his Super Bowl and Championship rings for the kids to try on.

He brought cards and signed autographs for each youth player and stuck around until well past dark to answer each and every question they had.
