On September 11, at approximately 2:37 p.m., at 225 W. Milwaukee in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Jodi Belcher of Newell was involved in an accident with another vehicle driven by Oscar Navarro of Wilmar, Minn. The two vehicles collided causing total damages estimated at $1,400.
On September 18, at approximately 11:28 a.m., at 1407 W. 5th Street in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Donnabelle Sievert of Alta, struck a parked vehicle owned by Randy Jacobson of Lakeside. Total damages were estimated at $1,750.
On September 18, at approximately 4:55 p.m., at the intersection of Highview and W. 6th in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Catarino Garcia Ayala of Fonda, struck a 9 year old bicyclist causing one injury and no property damages.
On September 11, at approximately 11:53 a.m., in the 400th block of E. 4th Street in Storm Lake, a vehicle driven by Benjamin Gloyd of Spencer, struck a parked vehicle owned by Direct TV Inc. Total damages were estimated at $420.
On September 20, at approximately 9:59 p.m., at 1250 Lake Avenue in Storm Lake, a vehicle an unknown vehicle struck a parked vehicle owned by Jose Gonzalez Hernandez of Storm Lake. Damages were estimated at $200.
On September 17, an attempted burglary was reported at 9th and Vestal in Storm Lake. Total damages were estimated at $20.
On the morning of Thursday, September 20, at approximately 7:59 a.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Fareway Store located at 731 Seneca Street in reference to two juveniles being detained for shoplifting.
Upon arrival of police they met with store staff and learned that a 16 year old male and 15 year old male both of Storm Lake were allegedly observed attempting to conceal cough medicine and remove it from the store.
Police took the two juveniles into custody and following an investigation allege the two juveniles were going to consume the cough medicine in an attempt to get high. During the investigation police also report they found one of the juveniles to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia.
Police charged the 16 year old juvenile with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Theft 5th Degree.
Police charged the 15 year old juvenile with Possession of Marijuana and Theft 5th Degree. Both juveniles were processed and released to a parent pending a court date.
The case has been forwarded to the Juvenile Court Authority.
Man charged after turning himself in
On the evening of Thursday, September 20, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Storm Lake Police arrested a wanted person at the police station after he surrendered himself.
Police arrested Jorge Carrillo Patzan, age 20 of Storm Lake, on a warrant charging him with Harassment 3rd Degree. The charges stem from a telephone threat on September 1, 2012 where police allege that Patzan called the reporting party and threatened to bring a group of people to their home and assault him.
Patzan was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.
On the evening of Thursday, September 20, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Storm Lake Police made an arrest in connection with a harassment incident.
On September 15, 2012 police took a report that a person identified as Justin Howard, age 31 of Fonda, had allegedly sent a series of harassing text messages to the reporting party.
Police investigated the incident and on Thursday night arrested Howard at the Storm Lake Police Station charging him with Harassment 3rd Degree. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a $300 cash bond.
Between September 17th and September 18th, three thefts were reported in Storm Lake. The total value of the items reported missing was estimated at $276.
