Perry E. Brake, 88, of Alta, passed away on Saturday, September 8, at North Lake Manor of Storm Lake.

Perry Edwin Brake was born September 2, 1924 to Edwin and Wilhelmina Elsie (Rusch) Brake in Galva Township, Ida County. He was baptized September 28, 1924 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Schaller and confirmed May 5, 1940 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Galva. He graduated the 8th grade from Galva in May 1938 and moved to Rembrandt and graduated from Rembrandt High School in May 1942.

Perry was united in marriage to Edith Marie Breckenfelder of Rembradt on December 26, 1948 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. Perry started farming in 1949 and moved to Aurelia to farm from 1954 to 1975, then moved to Rembrandt to farm until retirement in 2004. Upon retirement he moved to Alta.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Jerry and James; brother-in-law, Ernie Breckenfelder; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Breckenfelder.

He is survived by his wife, Edith M. Brake of Alta; daughter, Linda and husband, Duane Wiese of Alta; and sons, Ervin and wife Runae Brake of Alta, and his son, Loren and wife Crystal Brake of Rembrandt; grandchildren, Troy and wife Jen Wiese of Ankeny, Brent Wiese of Ankeny, Nathan Wiese of Kansas City, Mo., Michael and wife Alicia Bittner of Omaha, Neb., Kristine Brake of Cedar Falls, Kelsey Brake of Alta, Kaity Brake of Alta, and Cole Brake of Alta; great-grandchildren, Ryan and Kylee Wiese of Ankeny; and a sister, Marga Breckenfelder, of Chicago, Ill.; and sister-in-law, Sharon Stanberry of Virginia.
