Burdette "Bill" Peters, age 82, of Othello, Wash., passed away September 2, at his home surrounded by loving family. He was born at home in Sac County, to William and Bertha Peters on January 11, 1930. Bill graduated from Sulfur Springs High School and went on to receive a degree in Education. He served the US Army in the Korean War and later traveled back to Korea to attend the 50th Commemoration of the war. He married Jackie Lawson July 10, 1960. Bill and Jackie homesteaded their farm outside of Othello in 1966, which is still in operation today. Bill loved farming and teaching. He taught 8th grade math at McFarland Junior High School from 1966 to 1990. He was dedicated to the children; opening his class up after school to any student who needed that little bit of extra help. Bill was a loving, friendly man who will be missed by all who knew him. Bill is survived by his wife, Jackie Peters, of Othello, his sons Brian (Soraya) Peters of Kennewick, and Tom (Heather) Peters of Richland, and his daughters Becky (Eric) Anderson of Seattle, and Kristi Peters of Seattle. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, his brother Robert (Patsy) Peters of Ankeny, and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. A Funeral Service will be held at the Pilgrim Lutheran Church in Othello on Friday, September 7, 2012 at 2 pm. Services are under the direction of Stevens Funeral Chapel.
