Private graveside services will take place Thursday, August 16, at the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Norman A. Leewright was born February 7, 1968 in St. James, Minn. As a child, he was baptized and confirmed at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Manly.
Growing up, he attended school in Manly where he graduated from North Central Community School. Following high school graduation, he began working at IBP in Storm Lake until injured in a motorcycle accident in 1989.
Norman pursued further education at Iowa Central Community College where he earned his Associate Degree. He later attended Buena Vista University in Storm Lake where he studied Criminal Justice.
On August 18, 2007, Norman was united in marriage to Tina Syndergaard in Storm Lake.
Norman enjoyed collecting and restoring Cub Cadet tractors and mowers and model cars. In his spare time, he enjoyed quilting. Norman loved being outdoors, especially camping and travelling. He was an avid sports fan of the Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings. Additionally, Norman spoke to high school students about the consequences of drinking and driving. Family was very important to Norman and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Tina Leewright of Lakeside; parents, Ron Leewright of Ponca City, Okla.; Barb Leewright of Storm Lake; children: Justin Leewright; Chantel Younie; Brandon Younie; Charlie Syndergaard; Jon (Mel) Syndergaard; Toni Sargent; and Brandon Sargent; grandchildren: Cali, Bailee, and Blaine Kuhse; Symbre and Payton Syndergaard; Kaseton Syndergaard; and Dayken Sargent; brothers: Mike (Stacy) Leewright of Bland, Va.; Troy (Debbi) Leewright of Manly; parents-in-law, Joe and Marilyn Syndergaard of Spencer; sisters-in-law: Jackie (Kevin) Vodraska of Spencer; Brenda (Scott) Grove of New Hampton; brothers-in-law, Adam (Vicki) Syndergaard of Spencer; Tom Syndergaard of Wis.; nieces, nephews; great nieces and nephews; extended family and friends.
Norman was preceded in death by his grandparents: Walter and Doris Leewright; William Coleman; Erna and Jake Harder; and beloved dogs, Zeus and Molly.
