Alta community gardeners appreciate donation of hydrant from Merrill Mfg.
The Horizon Gardens in Alta, which provides garden produce for the community, has been given a hydrant from the Merrill Manufacturing to be used by the group to water the gardens. At right, Mayor Ron Neulieb and Alta city Council member Pam Henderson are shown with GiGi Nelson, a representative of the Merrill Manufacturing as she present the gardens with a frost-free any flow yard hydrant. Merrill Manufacturing several years ago also gave five high-capacity irrigation units to the Alta Baseball/Football fields. Merrill Manufacturing Co. was founded by Noel Merrill Anderson in a one-car garage where he invented the Merrill Any Flow Yard Hydrant. His marketing area was Iowa and a few surrounding states. In 1959, Anderson designed and engineered the Merrill piless units, designed to be used with submersible pumps and eliminate the need of a pump house or well-pit. He next invented the tank float. These three inventions expanded his product offerings and market areas.
