Legacy Run continues to raise money

The 2012 Legacy Run,which will raise money for the American Legion Legacy Scholarship Fund, will escort National Commander Fang Wong from his home department of New York through five states. Riders will depart from Wheatfield American Legion Post 1451 in Sanborn, N.Y., on Aug.21. They will travel nearly 750 miles, ending up in Indianapolis, home of the 94th National Convention, on Aug.23. The group will make stops at Legion Posts in New York, Ohio, Michigan and Indiana. At Garden City, Mich., they will pay tribute to the founding chapter of American Legion Riders at Post 396.

The 2011 Legacy Run to Minneapolis covers 1225 miles through four states and raised more than $688,000 for the Legacy Scholarship Fund. In six years, the Legacy Run has generated nearly $2.8 million for the fund.

On Aug. 11th 2012, the Legion Riders from Schaeffer Post 115 Storm Lake, did their own Legacy Run through Newell Storm Lake, Sioux Rapids, Spencer, Milford ending at Arnolds Park stopping at the local posts.
