Alta Kiwanis Notes

Friday, August 10, 2012

The Alta Kiwanis met Tuesday, Aug. 7 at Wel-Life.

Guest speaker was Lorinda Peterson, manager of the Alta City Swimming Pool, expressed some of the things the pool needs. New mats are needed inside the shower room and over by the baby pool. The mats which measure 12-by-12 are around $1,600. The money could be raised either by applying for a grant or by having a pancake fund-raiser.

Other possible needs of the pool include a handicap accessible lift and a slide.

There is a sign-up sheet for taking tickets at four home football games.

Aurelia Kiwanis presented a gift of $500 to Alta Kiwanis. Three Alta club members assisted the Aurelia club who served breakfast when RAGBRAI came through Aurelia. The gift in the name of both clubs is designated for the ELIMINATE project.

The boating/pizza party for fifth grade P.I.E. partners jas been canceled for this year due to low lake levels.

There has been a request by Pam Henderson, Horizons member, for Kiwanis to host a pancake fundraiser Nov. 11. Proceeds will go toward a new electronic sign board.
