Calvin was born on July 6, 1924, in Council Bluffs, to Dennis and Anna (Basch) Frohardt and was the oldest of 3 siblings. He graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, and attended Iowa State University.
On March 11, 1951, Calvin was united in marriage to Leone Hibma in Council Bluffs. Together, they were blessed with four children: Fred, Nich, Avis, and Cliff. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 2011.
Calvin was a longtime member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Newell. He had a strong faith in the Lord and was very involved in the church over the years. Calvin particularly enjoyed teaching adult Sunday school and leading Bible studies. He enjoyed singing in choirs, performing solos, and singing duets with Leone at numerous church functions. Calvin was an avid story teller and never met a person he couldn't talk to. His love of farming was deeply ingrained and sustained him over the years. Calvin enjoyed traveling with Leone, visiting family and friends across America. Calvin valued family above all else and was very proud of them and all their accomplishments.
Calvin is survived by his four children: Fred (Donna) Frohardt of Auburn, Maine; Nich (Donna) Frohardt of Sac City; Avis (Roland) Lussier of Melbourne, Fla.; and Cliff (Cathy) Frohardt of Nemaha;14 grandchildren: Penelope (Tom) Austin; Chelley (Jeremiah) Casey; Eric (Lea) Frohardt; Nicholas Frohardt; Daniel (Rachael) Frohardt; Robin Frohardt; Ian (Mariah) Lussier; Danielle (Ross) Eldridge; Patrick Lussier; Matthew Lussier; Anna Lussier; Jonathan Lussier; Heidi (Phil) Smith; and Chris Frohardt; six great grandchildren: Luke, Daisy, Lilly, and Daphne Frohardt; and Callan and Clara Casey; one sister Bernice Cole and sister-in-law Norma Frohardt; extended family and friends.
Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Leone, his parents, and brother Wesley.
