Vista Estates has broken ground and will develop 22 new lots off the intersection of the newly-paved Vestel and W. 9th Street, adjacent to the existing park area and near the W. Ninth ballfields.
Site owner Jim Haahr is aware of the need for additional housing in Storm Lake, and told park management, "Let's develop," said Barb Kestel, a project spokesperson. "The community is extremely short on places for low to moderate income people. Speaking with people from the City, we're going to need quite a few more."
Two model homes are now open near the Vista Estates office, complete with sample furnishings and staging.
Vista Estates over time has converted to entirely owner-occupied units. There are 105 existing units on site, with all of them currently occupied.
The new lots will be the best in the park, Kestel said, and the new homes will be "very nice both inside and out."
