Paulline P. Conard, age 87, of Alta, passed away on Saturday, July 21, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center of Cherokee. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 01, at 11:00 a.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta with the Rev. Don E. Rothweiler officiating. Burial will be in the Scandinavian Cemetery of Alta. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta is in charge of the arrangements.
Paulline Conard was born January 14, 1925 in Alta, to Sigrid and Ludwig Strand. She graduated from Alta High School in 1942. After high school, she attended NBT Business College in Sioux City. Following graduation she moved to California and lived with her sister Lucille and her husband Lyle Madson.
Paulline was married to Lloyd Conard just after WWII ended in 1945. The couple moved back to Alta where they lived for the rest of their lives. She worked as a part-time librarian at the Alta Public Library for many years as well as working at Vilas and the Buena Vista County Care Facility.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd; her son, Charles Conard; her brother, Donald Strand; and sisters, Helen Jacobson and Lucille Madson.
She is survived by her son, Clayton Conard and his wife Margot Tollefson/Conard; her daughter, Christine Jones; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
