Dorothy Hines

Dorothy Mae Hines, age 90, of Lone Tree, Colo., formerly of Nemaha and Sac City, passed away Wednesday, July 18, at The Denver Hospice Care Center in Denver, Colo. Dorothy was born on April 24, 1922 to George Dewey and Evelyn Mae (Russell) Hamm. She graduated from Nemaha High School.

On February 5, 1941, Dorothy was united in marriage to Gerald W. Hines at the United Methodist Church in Nemaha. They had three children: Maurice, Larry, and Linda. She was a very active member of the United Methodist Church of Nemaha and continued to give service at St. John's United Methodist Church when she moved to Sarasota, Fla. in 2003.

Dorothy was a homemaker and was very active on the Hines Family Farm. She loved to garden, cook for her family, and play cards. In her retirement years, she became an avid reader, a fan of many sports, and was a master of puzzles. Above all, Dorothy cherished every moment with her family and lived out her faith each and every day.

She leaves to mourn: a son, Larry (Lari) Hines of North Muskegon, Mich.; a daughter, Linda (Paul) Witter of Lone Tree, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Judith Hines of Ankeny; seven grandchildren: Therran Hines, Spencer (Kara) Hines, Jennifer (Chad) Street, Amy Mae Langrock, Bradon (Dana) Hines, Dawn (Brian) Pyle, and Kenton (Ashley) Hines; nine great-grandchildren: Matthew Hines, Joey Street, Nathan Hines, Elle Street, Kylee Pyle, Taylor Pyle, Chloe Hines, Colton Pyle, and Camden Hines; five step-grandchildren: Tom (Linda) Witter, Tim (Cary) Witter, Paulyn Leers, Erica and Cydni Seifert; three step-great-grandchildren: Shane (Joanna) Witter, Jennifer (Jonathan) Brown, and Courtney Witter; five step-great-great-grandchildren; a brother Kenneth (Anita) Hamm of Nemaha; a brother-in-law Keith (Judith) Hines of Sac City; and extended family and friends.

Her husband, Gerald; her parents, George Dewey and Evelyn Mae Hamm; her father and mother-in-law, Forrest and Ella Hines; a sister and brother-in-law, Majel and Jim Goetschius; and a son, Maurice Linne Hines, preceded Dorothy in death.
