Gordon Arnold Grau, age 41, of Newell, died July 23, at his home in Newell.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 27, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery. Visitation will take place Thursday, July 26, from 3-8 p.m. with the family present from 5-8 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Gordon Arnold Grau was born April 5, 1971 in Storm Lake, the son of Arnold and Karen (Blok) Grau. He was baptized in May of 1971 at the Nain Lutheran Church in Newell where he was later confirmed in May of 1984.

Growing up, Gordon attended Newell Providence School where he graduated in 1989. Following high school graduation, Gordon furthered his education by attending Iowa State University where he graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor Degree in Ag Business.

On June 27, 1997, Gordon was united in marriage to Shannon Dau at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina. Together, they were blessed with three children: Carli, Lindsay, and Kyle.

Gordon was a 5th generation, lifelong member of Nain Lutheran Church in Newell. He served on the church council, church choir, and an usher. Gordon was a member of Pork Producers and the Cattleman Association. He served on the Newell-Fonda School Board and was a member of Beta Sigma Psi Fraternity.

Gordon was a lifelong farmer who enjoyed all sorts of agriculture. He worked for the Farm Services Agency for the past five years full time and previously part time for four years.

Gordon was an avid Iowa State University Cyclone fan. He loved watching sporting events, especially his children in their many activities. He enjoyed music and dancing. Gordon collected 1/64 scale FFA semi-trucks and 1/64 scale farm equipment.

Gordon treasured spending time with his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 15 years, Shannon Grau of Newell; children: Carli, Lindsay, and Kyle Grau; his mother, Karen Grau of Newell; sister, Julie (Keith) Laube of Newton; mother and father-in-law, Darwin and Bev Dau of Paullina; brothers-in-law: Chad (Becky) Dau of Paullina; Cory (Anita) Dau of Paullina; nieces and nephews: Jolisa Laube of Bullhead City, Ariz.; Christian and Amanda Laube of Newton; Evan, Hannah, and Logan Dau of Paullina; grandfather-in-law, Harold Dau of Sutherland; several aunts and uncles and cousins; extended family and many friends.

Gordon was preceded in death by his father, Arnold Grau; grandparents and grandparents-in-law.
