Daniel "Dan" Georgeff was born on July 1, 1926, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Vanche and Helen (Tricheff) Georgeff. As a baby, Dan was baptized at the Serbian Orthodox Church in South Omaha. He graduated from South High School in 1944. During his senior year, Dan was a starter on the Omaha South High basketball team, when they won the State, Intercity, and Missouri Valley league titles. He was also a letter winner on the High School baseball team and editor of the school paper.
During World War II, Dan entered into the U.S. Navy on June 20, 1944. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and attained the rank of Machine Accountant Second Class. He was honorably discharged on February 24, 1955.

On September 1, 1951, Dan was united in marriage to Joanne Lee Hipple in Estherville, Iowa. This union was blessed with four children: David, Darren, Jay and Jerry.
As a faithful member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Dan served a term as church treasurer as well as on the Lutheran Brotherhood Board. He was an advocate for Methodist Manor and was active in Via de Cristo for several years. He had a couple of good, good friends, who were in long term care facilities that he visited regularly.
In the 1970s, lights were needed for the new high school baseball field. Dan petitioned the school board and was successful in obtaining lights for the new field.
Dan enjoyed traveling, making four trips to Europe to visit children who lived there. Additionally, he and Joanne spent 10 winters in Texas.
