Dorothy M. Kirkpatrick, age 82, of Storm Lake died June 19, at Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.
Funeral services were held June 22, at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery.
Dorothy Marie Christensen was born October 14, 1929, at the family home in rural Graettinger, Iowa, Palo Alto County, the daughter of Carl and Sophia (Nyborg) Christensen. She began her education attending country school, then graduated from Spencer High School. Following graduation, Dorothy attended Dana College in Blair, Neb.
Dorothy was married May 7, 1950, to Karol Kirkpatrick, an Iowa Highway Patrolman, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.
She was a faithful member of the Storm Lake United Methodist Church, belonging to several organizations there. She did volunteer work through the hospital auxiliary as well as serving on the election board for many years. Dorothy enjoyed golfing, bowling, solving crossword puzzles, listening to music and walking. More than anything, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. She and Karol spent several winters in Texas in their retirement.
Those left to survive Dorothy are her two sons: Glen (Beth) Kirkpatrick of Grundy Center, Iowa; Jim (Laurie) Kirkpatrick of Zionsville, Ind; daughter, Kay (Steve) Quirk of Alta; six grandchildren: Jason (Melanie) Kirkpatrick; Joshua Kirkpatrick; Jenna and Haley Kirkpatrick; Stephanie (Jason) McClellan; Samantha Quirk; two great grandchildren: Jalen and Charlee Kirkpatrick; one brother-in-law, Keith Kirkpatrick of Des Moines, Iowa; one sister-in-law, Jeanne Christensen from Somers, Iowa; extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Karol; two brothers: Dean and Delmar Christensen; sister, Lois Crescilious; sister-in-law, Arbie Kirkpatrick; and brother-in-law, Ken Kirkpatrick.
