Each year at the Albert City Summerfest, recognition is made to the Citizen of the Year and the Fireman of the Year. Those selected for these honors receive a plaque and then a ride through the parade.

This year's selection for Albert City Citizen of the Year was Sam Aronson, a lifetime resident of Albert City.

After graduating from high school he served in Vietnam as a member of the Army.

Luke Ehlers was selected as Albert City's Fireman of the Year.
Upon returning home he joined the Albert City American Legion and today is a 40-year member.

He has been active in Our Savior's Lutheran Church serving in the Sunday School, choir and church council.

He has served as the score keeper for Albert City-Truesdale sports for 40 years, has served as a little league coach, a Boy Scout leader and Santa during the annual Albert City Winterfest.

He has sang the National Anthem for a number of school events as well as at Des Moines Cubs games and at Minnesota Twins games.

Luke Ehlers was selected as Fireman of the Year. He has been active with the Albert City Fire Dept. for 11 years.

He was very instrumental in purchasing the department's new fire truck after the old pumper was totalled in an accident. He regularly attends state fire school and is in charge of taking care of the pagers and radios for the department.

Luke and his wife Christy, along with their two sons, Brady and Brandon, are active members of the Albert City community. Luke works for the City of Albert City and is in charge of water, sewer and street maintenance along with all the other jobs related to keeping the city running smoothly and looking nice and neat.
