Northwest Iowa vocal and songwriting prodigy Kelsey Klingensmith and the Buffalo Ridge Band are part of the Storm Lake Iowa Fourth of July Star Spangled Spectacular band shell entertainment. Storm Laker Dave Hinners is percussionist for the band. They will be performing from 12:30-2:30 p.m. at the Sunset Park Band Shell.

Klingensmith is from Kingsley and has written over 100 songs and has recorded her first all-original CD. Her next CD is being produced by the musical director for Faith Hill to be released this month.

The Buffalo Ridge Band most recently backed up fellow Iowa country crooner Shawn Mayer. The band includes Hinners, Jimmy Davis on lead guitar, Steve Alingh on keyboard and Brooks Begay on bass.

Klingensmith started penning original songs as soon as she could write. At 9, she bought her first guitar with her birthday money -- strumming and picking the melodies to her songs shortly thereafter. She has been recording since age 11. "Live, Laugh, Love" was released in April 2011. Her work has been heard on MTV and she has performed over 100 shows in seven states.
