Tornadoes top Cherokee for third straight win

CHEROKEE - Storm Lake won their third straight game Wednesday as they plated seven runs over the final three innings to pull away from Cherokee in a 13-6 final.

Tornado starter Ethan Kenkel struck out 10 batters in five innings of work, with four unearned runs allowed on four hits. Trey O'Brien tossed two innings of relief, allowing two runs on three hits with one strikeout.

At the plate, Blake Overmohle was 3-for-3 with a pair driven in, Adam Ullerich was 1-for-1, walked twice and drove in two, Jay Grant drove in two and scored two, and O'Brien and Chase Lange scored twice.

The Tornadoes totaled 13 hits in the win and walked six times.

Storm Lake sits at an even 4-4 and and visits Spirit Lake on Monday.
