DES MOINES -- June MidAmerican Energy Company has announced the winners of its 2012 scholarship program.
Jaden Holton of Alta, Iowa, will receive a $1,500 scholarship for the 2012-2013 academic year.
"We are pleased to acknowledge exceptional students, and we wish them well in their academic endeavors," said Bill Fehrman, MidAmerican Energy president and CEO.
The MidAmerican Energy Company Scholarship Program awards $1,500 scholarships to children and stepchildren of full-time MidAmerican Energy employees. Recipients are selected by a panel of independent judges, based on academic achievement, a written narrative, ACT and/or SAT scores, extracurricular activities, and letters of recommendation.
Holton will be a freshman at the University of Iowa, where he plans to study pre-physical therapy. Holton graduated from Alta-Aurelia High School this year. He is the son of Michael and Jill Holton. Michael is a substation electric technician crew leader with MidAmerican Energy.
