Funeral services were Monday, June 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove. Burial was in the Lone Tree Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids.
Delores Wyone Lady, the daughter of William and Emma (Sorbe) Lady, was born in Albert City on Dec. 10, 1923. She lived her youth in the Rembrandt area, where she was a graduate of Rembrandt High School. Delores continued her education at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, receiving her teaching degree. During her education career, Delores taught music and junior high English at Titonka, Gutenberg, Sioux Rapids, Sioux Valley and Storm Lake.
On Oct. 8, 1950, Delores was united in marriage to Gordon Risvold in Storm Lake. This couple was blessed with three sons: Paul, Warren and Wayne. Gordon and Delores were engaged in farming on the family farm for 30 years. They moved to Sioux Rapids in 1980 where they lived the remainder of their married life. After her teaching career, Delores served as a CNA for several years at the Sioux Care Center.
Delores was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Linn Grove, the WELCA, and the Birthday Club. She shared her musical talents with the church by serving as an organist and also taught private piano lessons in her home. Delores was gifted in doing various types of handwork and enjoyed spending time reading, collecting books, and bird watching.
Delores' life and memories will always be honored and cherished by her children: Paul (Jymme) Risvold of Sioux Rapids; Warren (Lori) Risvold of Coon Rapids, Minn.; and Wayne (Sandy) Risvold of Cedar Falls; her grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Travis, Trista and Ashley Risvold, and Kiah, Holly, and Abrielle Tomatz; other extended family and her many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gordon, on Oct. 7, 2011; and her brother: Kenneth.
