Memorial services were Saturday, May 26. Burial will be at a later date. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Calvin Lee Johnson was born Jan. 26, 1958, in Newton, the son of Chelsea and Marjorie (Anderson) Johnson. At the age of 15, his mother was wed to Raymond Burras of Kanawha. Cal attended and graduated from Kanawha High School in 1976. Following graduation, Cal attended Waldorf College in Forest City, before graduating from Buena Vista College in 1980 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management.
On March 13, 1993, Cal was united in marriage to Joy Johnson at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake.
Cal was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Storm Lake. He was active in the Storm Lake community and worked as the Drivers License Examiner for Buena Vista County. He enjoyed going to the beach, riding his motorcycle, and an occasional round of golf. Additionally, Cal loved helping anyone and everyone and was known as Cal-Fix-It for his ability as a handyman. He was wonderful at making people laugh and could always put a smile on your face. Cal also enjoyed entertaining family and friends and was widely known for his "Cal Corn" which was never in short supply. There was nothing Cal enjoyed more than the time he spent with his family and friends. He adored his triplet grandchildren and cherished the time with them.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Joy Johnson of Storm Lake; his daughter, Jodie (Phil) Lee of Grimes; his step-sons: Nick (Cali) Sorbe of Cedar Falls; Adam Sorbe of Cedar Falls; his grandchildren: Hannah, Bennett and Alyssa Lee of Grimes; step-father Raymond Burras of Kanawha; brothers-in-law: Jerry (Jeanine) Meyer; Lee (Becky) Meyer; Tom Meyer; extended family and friends.
Preceding Cal in death were his father, Chelsea Johnson and mother, Marjorie Burras.
