Mustangs' Maneman 5th in 400, Christensen 6th in shot
DES MOINES - The Newell-Fonda girl's track team placed a pair on the medal stand Thursday as Renee Maneman wound up fifth in the 400 meters and Andrea Christensen was sixth in the shot.
Maneman, a sophomore, turned in a time of 59.56, shaving a full second off of her previous best time on the year. Clayton Ridge's Jasmine Staebler topped the 1A field with a time of 57.93. Maneman also added a 12th place showing in the prelims of the 200 meter dash at 27.41.
Mustang junior Andrea Christensen turned in a throw of 36'3.25" on her way to sixth in the shot as she improved by an inch on her season best.
The junior turned in throws of 33'11.5", 34'10.75" and 35'5.5" to advance to the next round of throws. In the second frame, she threw 34'3.5", 36'3.25" and 34'3.5".
