The teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) are to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Capital One became the entitlement rights holder to CoSIDA's Academic All?-America teams programs in 2011.
Those selected to the Academic All-District teams will now be placed on the ballot for Academic All-America voting, with those results to be announced later this month.
Broll earns the recognition for the first time in his career. He's coming off a junior season in which he finished 32-6 overall and moved to within 13 wins of 100 in his career. He made his third straight trip into the national tournament and came just one win shy of earning All-America honors for the first time in his career.
Earlier this season, Broll, a Human Performance/Math major, earned Academic All-IIAC honors for the second straight year, as well as Scholar All-American accolades by the NWCA for the second time. He holds a cumulative GPA of 3.70.
Broll is set to become the program's first CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-American. He's also the Fourth Capital One Academic All-District First Team selection for the Beavers this year (Kellyn Arnold, Laura Hilby and Michael Dirkx).
