Alta Kiwanis Notes

The Alta Kiwanis met Tuesday, May 8 at Wel-Life.

Guest speakers were Jeanne Strock and Randy Bissen - Alta-Aurelia golf coaches. Randy is the head boys golf coach. He also teaches fourth grade. The boys are members of the Twin Lakes Conference and recently finished in third place at the conference meet. The Alta-Aurelia team is currently rated 10th in the state with a dual meet record of 7-2. Among the top players is Jaden Holten, rated fourth in state and Spencer Bezoni. The team will be in a sectional tourney upcoming in Okoboji.

Jeanne Strock is the assistant girls golf coach. She also teaches fifth grade. The Alta-Aurelia girls recently won the Twin Lakes Conference title. Jeanne stated that Kelsi and Jenna Synder, Jen Jensen and Erin Lockin help lead the team. The girls will also have a sectional meet in Okoboji.

Francis Carlson became a new member this morning. Steve Jimmerson read the club purpose and Gene Boelter presented Mr. Carlson with a membership certificate, pin and name badge.

Ticket taking by Kiwanis members at baseball-softball games begins with the first home game May 21.

Recent donations - $500 to the Eliminate program, $160 to skip-a-meal, and $200 to Earth Day BBQ.

They wish to thank all who participated in making bicycle safety day May 4.
