The Alta Kiwanis Club met Tuesday, April 24 at Wel-Life.
Guest speaker was Stephanie Beck from Faith Hope and Charity in Storm Lake. April has been designated Autism Awareness Month. Autism has no pin-point cause.
Stephanie stated that one in 88 children are diagnosed with autism. For boys the diagnosis is one in 54. She further described autism as a spectrum disorder with a range from mild to severe with problems involving lack of communication to compulsive-obsessive disorders. Faith Hope and Charity recently hosted events to raise autism awareness.
Kiwanis ditch-cleaning, along with help from fifth grade P.I.E. partners has been rescheduled to this Thursday, April 26 beginning at 12:30 p.m.
Motion was made and seconded to donate $150 to American Cancer Society's Relay for Life.
Motion made and seconded to have our annual boating outing with fifth grade P.I.E. partners in August.
Bicycle safety day - May 4 at elementary school.
