Edith Pearson, age 103, of Albert City, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City. Funeral services were held Monday, April 23, at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial was in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City was in charge of the arrangements.

Edith was born Oct. 4, 1908, to Charlie and Minnie Aspholm Miller on a farm near Albert City. She was baptized and confirmed in the Hjunhead Lutheran Church of Albert City. Edith graduated from Albert City High School in 1926 and attended Iowa State College for one year.

On Nov. 22, 1931, she married Alvin Pearson who passed away suddenly in 1944. Edith worked for many years in the school lunch room, Albert City Savings Bank and Superior Manufacturing. She spent many hours volunteering for various organizations and community activities. She served on the first board for Young at Heart which purchased the building for the Senior Center. After retiring, she worked at Pleasant View Nursing home as a dietary assistant.

Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin, sister Freda Fjellin, and son Terry.

She is survived by her children, Allen Pearson, Arlene Hagen and Phyllis Ransom. She has 10 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Edith's favorite times were spent with her family and friends. Her family and friends will miss her smile and kind support. She lived a life of dignity, respectfulness and purpose, an example and inspiration for all.
