The outdoor concert begins at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 or $45 for a two-day pass. The Saturday show features country-pop crossover band Diamond Rio and the legendary Charlie Daniels.
After more than three decades together, 38 Special continued to bring their hard-driving sound to over 100 cities a year. Donnie Van Zant, brother of Hall of Famer and founder of Lynyrd Skynyrd the late Ronny Van Zant, continues to lead these "Wild Eyed Southern Boys," who formed up in 1974 in Jacksonville, Florida, but found the big-time with a breakthrough hit "Hold On Loosely," in 1981.
Their string of hits included "Caught Up in You," "Rockin' Into the Night," "Caught Up in You," "If I'd Been the One," and "Back Where You Belong."
By the late 1980s, arena rock was becoming scarce, but the band has continued to tour constantly, notably appearing with REO Speedwagon and Styx as part of the "Can't Stop Rockin' Tour" in 2009 that helped to rekindle interest in the '80s sound.
