Kirk Tomford, age 56, of Early, died April 4, 2012 at Loring Hospital in Sac City.

Memorial services were held Monday, April 9, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be at a later date. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Kirk Tomford was born July 3, 1955 in Storm Lake, the son of Wendell Wayne and Virginia May (Hackler) Tomford. Growing up, he attended school in Storm Lake where he graduated from Storm Lake High School.

On Aug. 23, 1996, Kirk was united in marriage to Christine Irene Wiley at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Together, they were blessed with three children: Joe, Tiffany, and Lindsay.

Kirk worked as a shag driver at Tyson until he retired in 2009. He loved being outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He always looked forward to hunting season and lived for it. Kirk loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Christine Tomford of Early; children: Joe (wife, Freedom) of Cherokee; Tiffany (fiancÚ, Jeff Titus) of Cherokee; Lindsay (boyfriend, Chris Handy) of Aurelia; grandchildren: Ashtyn and Tarynn Titus; brother, Scott (wife, Cookie) Tomford of Glendale, Ariz.; sisters: Lori (husband, Kent) Combes and family of Hartley; Vicki Rice and family of Storm Lake; Sheri (husband, Bob) Williams and family of Storm Lake; numerous nieces; nephews; extended family and many friends.

Kirk was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kerry; and other extended family.
