Belva Frances Markusen, age 88, of Correctionville, passed away on Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at the Correctionville Nursing and Rehab Center of Correctionville.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 24, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville with the Rev Sheryl K. Ashley officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery of Anthon. A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 24, one hour prior to the service from 9:30 -- 10:30 a.m. at the Nicklas D Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville. The Nicklas D Jensen Funeral Home of Correctionville is in charge of the arrangements.
Belva Frances Markusen was born March 29, 1923 to Oscar and Cecelia (Walker) Markusen in Correctionville. She graduated from Correctionville High School. Upon graduation, Belva worked as a telephone operator for the Bell Phone Company for 38 years.
Belva enjoyed singing and dancing, especially the jitterbug. She played the piano and organ. Belva also enjoyed cooking and traveling to the Black Hills.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her beloved friend and soul mate of 68 years, Jack Peters of Anthon; honorary sister-in-law, Anna Mae Lancaster of Anthon; honorary nieces, Martha Kaufman of Gilbert, Ariz. and Margie Lancaster of Anthon and her cousins.
