March 2, 2012 marked thirty years since the day Carey and Carol Hetrick opened their business, The Christian Book Store, at 200 West Maple Street in Cherokee.

Throughout those thirty years, the store has provided the citizens of Cherokee and surrounding communities a place to purchase a wide supply of Christian-themed books as music, as well as CDs, DVDs, cards, communion supplies, church bulletins, artwork and "Shield of Strength" medallions for numerous occupations and church denominations.

The Christian Book Store has items for individuals, as well as for Sunday School, Confirmation, Vacation Bible School and Bible classes. If they don't have what customers are looking for, they will place a special order for that item.

Tina Westbay, store manager, said specially ordered items are usually received within four to eight days.

Owner Carey Hetrick said the store provides a Help Ministry of Supplies to all Christian denominations. Regular customers come from surrounding communities within a 60-mile radius.

Hetrick said he is are very thankful for thirty years of continued support from area ministers and customers.

In honor of their 30th anniversary, The Christian Book Store had a special drawing for prizes during Christmas, and plans to have another drawing near the end of April.
