At Christmas, the Aurelia Parent Teach Organization provided a tree at the Aurelia building, which were covered with book wish lists from the teachers, pk-eighth grade. Community members were encouraged to remove a list or two and purchase those books or provide funds for books on the list. The Kiwanis club made a large donation for the project.
In total, about $1,000 in books were provided, Each book has a "given by" spot on the inside of the book; many were given in memory of loved ones.
At the Alta building, the Parent-Teacher Association raised funds throught their annual wreath sale and then presented each elementary teacher with $100 to purchase books from the book fair open just for teachers. The teachers were able to select $150 worth of books at the book fair. This amounts to over $1,000 in books as well.
All of the teachers at both buildings are very pleased with the wonderful donations and the kids are happy to have new reading materials.
