Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 14, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller is in charge of the arrangements.
Helen Marjorie Rowe was born June 15, 1927 in Rockwell City, the daughter of Clarence Rowe and Vera (O'Niel) Baker. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City.
In 1947, Helen was baptized at the Methodist Church in Galva. She was a faithful member for many years at the Schaller United Methodist Church, and most recently (since 2006) a member of the New Hope Wesleyan Church in Sioux City.
On April 13, 1945, Helen was united in marriage to Vernon C. Skow at St. Paul United Methodist Church in Cherokee. They were blessed with three daughters, Carol, Cynthia, Cassandra and a son, Charles. They made their home in Schaller.
Over the years, Helen was an active member of the Schaller UMW and Schaller Arts & Crafts. She enjoyed fishing, camping, reading and making crafts.
Family was of greatest importance to Helen. She will forever be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
Left to cherish her memory are Helen's children: daughter, Carol (Robert) Pulju of Sioux City; daughter, Cynthia (Larry) Armstrong of Sioux City; grandchildren: Kaylene (Joe) Watterson of Alton; Jennifer (Travis) Barclay of Sioux City; Jeanie (Mike Sr.) Visotski of Sioux City; and Heather Canales of Sioux City; great-grandchildren: Ronald, Alex and JulieAnne Watterson; Kayla Angerman; Michael Jr. and Allen Visotski; Brookelynn and Travis Jr. Barclay; and Victoria Canales; brother, Robert Rowe of Yakima, Washington; extended family and many friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon of 61 years; daughter, Cassandra; son, Charles; son-in-law, Ronald Angerman; son-in-law, Pfc Frank Krebs; brother, Clarence Richard Rowe; sister, Virginia Mitchell; and granddaughter, Lori Roche.
