Mildred McQuigg, age 92, of Schaller, died Feb. 5, 2012 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home in Sioux City.
Funeral services were held Friday, Feb. 10, at the United Methodist Church in Schaller. Burial was in the Schaller Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller was in charge of the arrangements.
Mildred Virginia Trimble was born June 20, 1919 in Galva, the daughter of Joseph and Virginia (Fair) Trimble. She was baptized and confirmed at Silver Creek Township Methodist Church.
Growing up, Mildred attended Silver Creek Country School and later graduated from Ida Grove High School in 1937. Following high school graduation, Mildred attended Buena Vista College where she earned a teaching certificate and taught country school.
On Oct. 17, 1943, Mildred was united in marriage to Clifford Leonard McQuigg at Silver Creek Township. Together, they were blessed with four daughters, Beverly, Twyla, Tamara, and Rhonda.
Mildred was a member of the Schaller United Methodist Church where she served as a UMW Secretary and a District Officer, a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the church board and Mr. & Mrs. Club. She also served as the President of the Ida County 4-H Club and as a 4-H Leader for Sac County. Mildred was a Schaller High School Choir and Band mother and the Secretary for the Parent Teacher Association. She was also a member of the Schaller C-Con Club.
Mildred was very active in her community and church. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska, Hawaii, England, Switzerland and Ireland, where she visited her father's family home and church. Mildred was very creative and loved sewing and needlework. She loved her daughters dearly and enjoyed attending their activities. Mildred treasured spending time with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughters: Dr. Beverly Diane (Dr. Charles) McQuigg-Martinetz of Pocono Pines, Penn.; Twyla Virginia (Robert) Godbersen of Arthur; Tamara Yvonne Lowin of Sioux City; Rhonda Jo McQuigg of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Bryce Allen Godbersen of Odebolt; Leah Virginia Godbersen (special friend, Scott Neumann) of Arthur; great-grandchild, Brecken Clay Godbersen of Odebolt; sister-in-law, Delores Trimble of Odebolt; extended family and friends.
Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Clifford Leonard McQuigg on March 30, 1990; parents, Joseph Young Trimble and Virginia Maude Trimble; and brother, Gordon Joseph Trimble.
