BV County Sheriff Gary Launderville and wife Sandy to be honored in Alta on Saturday
A letter from the Alta City Council and volunteers
The "Heroes Game" designation for the Iowa-Nebraska conference football rivalry was conceived as a way to honor ordinary citizens of each state who do extraordinary things.
Our Buena Vista County Sheriff, Gary Launderville of Alta, received this honor at the football game last fall.
The city of Alta is inviting all citizens of Buena Vista County, and beyond, to join them on Feb. 11 at the Alta Community Center, between 1 and 5 p.m. (with a short program at 3 p.m.) to honor Sheriff Launderville.
Gary and his wife Sandy have foster parented about 125 children throughout the years, giving these children a safe haven from the neglect and abuse they may have encountered in their young lives.
In addition to four children of their own, they have adopted seven others into their hearts and home. There is a need for foster parenting throughout Iowa and Gary and Sandy promote this cause in every way possible.
Please join the Alta Community on Feb. 11 as we show our respect and honor to Buena Vista County's Sheriff, Gary Launderville.
