Gail Garnet Myers, age 94, of Wall Lake, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2011 at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City. Funeral arrangements are being made with the Farber and Otteman Funeral Home of Wall Lake.

Gail Garnet Weltzheimer, daughter of Samuel Frederick and Jesse Erreta (Breon) Weltzheimer was born May 10, 1917 at her home near Fonda. She was the youngest of 11 children and lived in the Fonda and Varina area while she was growing up. Her mother died when she was only 8 years old, and her older sisters and brothers helped her father care for her. She attended and graduated from 8th grade in Fonda. The family later moved to Sac City where she met Ernest Myers. They were married on Sept. 12, 1938 at the Myers home. Ernest and Gail were blessed with six children which they raised in the Sac City area.

Gail was an avid homemaker and gardener staying home to raise the children until the youngest was in school. She worked at the corn canning factory and Priebes egg plant in Sac City until they moved to the Alta area in the late 1970s. She then worked at Vilas turkey processing company until they moved to Bentonville, Ark. to retire and enjoy the warmer climate. They were able to do some traveling and enjoy other family that also lived in the area.

Ernest passed away on March 16, 2001, as a result of a car accident, just two weeks before they were to move into their first brand new house. Gail lived in the new house for four years before moving to assisted living at Twilight Acres in Wall Lake on June 1, 2005, where she has resided since. She enjoyed many new enjoyable experiences, including being chosen Valentine Queen in 2006. Her health declined in the last two years, and she passed away as the result of a severe stroke on Dec. 30, 2011 at Loring Hospital.

Survived by four of her children: Lois (Dale) Bunting, Bentonville Ark., Sandra (Kevin) Gaulke, Bondurant, Gene (Melinda) Myers, Louisville, Ky., Linda (Charles) Bettin Lake View; son-in-law Louis Schulte, Carthage, Mo.; 21 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren; sisters in law: Helen Weltzheimer, LoLene Stokes and Elzora (Larry) Seelinger; and many extended family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ernest in 2001; a daughter Judy in infancy and a daughter Loleta Schulte; grandchildren Jason Bettin in infancy and Ramona (Summers) Tassin; and all 10 of her brothers and sisters.
