Kenneth F. Boese, age 82, of Storm Lake, died Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 at his home in rural Storm Lake.

Funeral services were Monday, Dec. 12, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial was in the St. John's United Church of Christ Cemetery in rural Newell, with military honors by the AMVETS Post 66 of Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.

Kenneth Frederick Boese was born on Dec. 29, 1928, in Storm Lake, the son of Henry and Lena (Kischer) Boese. In 1929, he was baptized and later confirmed in 1942, at St. John's United Church of Christ in rural Newell. Kenneth attended school at Grant Township and Lincoln Lee Schools.

On Feb. 2, 1951, Kenneth was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Ordnance Corps. He was honorably discharged on Feb. 1, 1953.

Shortly after his military discharge, on March 1, 1953, Kenneth was united in marriage to Jeanette Caroline Kruse at St. John's United Church of Christ. This union was blessed with two children: Becky Ann and Keith Mark.

Kenneth remained a life-long devoted member of St. John's United Church of Christ. He served as Trustee and President, and was a member of the Building Committee and of Men's Brotherhood. In addition, Kenneth was a member of the Storm Lake AMVETS Post 66.

Over the years, Kenneth was a proud farmer, who took great pride in his farm and livestock. He enjoyed playing pool (especially Snooker), fishing (Oregon fishing trips), dancing the Waltz and Polka, and watching baseball games of his beloved Chicago Cubs. Above all else, Kenneth loved and cherished his family and took great interest in watching his grandchildren in their activities. He will be forever remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Those left to cherish Kenneth are his wife of 58 years, Jeanette Boese of Storm Lake; his children: Becky (Tom) Pape of Corvallis, Ore. and Keith (Joni) Boese of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Andrew, Samuel and Sally Pape; Joshua and Jeremy Boese; nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, extended family and many friends.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Lena Boese; parents-in-law, Fred and Hattie Kruse; sister, Beulah Lullmann; and brothers-in-law: Dick Lullmann, Roger Olson, and Phil Betz.
