Michael A. Weaver, age 47, of Albert City, died Nov. 13, 2011 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyo.

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 18, at the United Methodist Church in Marathon. Burial was in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.

Michael Alan Weaver was born March 20, 1964 in Mason City, the son of Alvin and Grace (Staples) Weaver. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Marathon.

Growing up, he lived in Marathon where he attended school and graduated from Laurens Marathon High School in 1982.

On Sept. 29, 1984, Mike was united in marriage to Nancy Elsbecker. Together, they were blessed with three children: Michelle, Cassie and Alex.

Mike was a hard worker. He worked at Lind Turkey Farms, Hakes Foods, Furst McNess and was a farmhand. He also owned and operated Weaver Trucking. Mike was a volunteer fireman in Newell and was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Laurens.

In his spare time, Mike took pleasure in helping others. He enjoyed auto racing, camping, and playing cribbage. He loved polishing motorcycles and entering them in contests with Alex. He loved his children and grandchildren and treasured spending time with them. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Michelle (Andy) Reisner of Albert City; Cassie (Johnny Clay) Weaver of Carroll; Alex Weaver of Albert City; grandchildren: Kathern and Braden of Albert City; sisters: Connie Weaver of Spirit Lake; Candi (Larry) Nielsen of Newell; niece, Amber Weaver of Spirit Lake; nephews: Brandon Nielsen of Fort Bragg, N.C.; Bryce Nielsen of Newell; Ian Morales of Spirit Lake; extended family and many friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Grace (Staples) Weaver; paternal grandparents, Alvin and Darlene (Sprong) Weaver; maternal grandparents, Clifford and Ethel (Hoyal) Staples; several aunts and uncles; and friend, Roger Nabity.
