Evangeline was born Nov. 18, 1924 at Quimby to Andrew Jackson "Jay" Clark and Opal Edith Bogue Clark. She was baptized at the age of five years and grew up on their farm west of Quimby. She graduated from Grand Meadow Consolidated School in 1942, and from Wayne State Teachers College in 1944, and then taught school at Rembrandt, Galva, and Sioux Rapids. She was confirmed in Rembrandt in 1946 and continued a born-again Christian profession of faith in Jesus Christ alone for salvation. She taught Sunday School for many years. A favorite verse was Acts 16:31 -- "Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved."
