On July 29, 1956, Lorelei married Duane Karstens in Lake View. After their marriage, they lived in various communities in Iowa and South Dakota. In 1967, they moved to Yankton and Lorelei started working for JC Penney's. In 1972, she moved to the catalog department where she worked until her retirement in 1983. Lorelei was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and the Ruth Circle. She served as a valuable aide at St. John's Preschool.
