Ed grew up in Fonda and graduated from Fonda High School in 1957. During high school, Ed served in the Army Reserves. Following high school, he joined the United States Air Force and served for 20 years, retiring in 1977. On Nov. 5, 1988, Ed was united in marriage to Betty Sullivan in Shenandoah. The couple made their home in Shenandoah from then on.
Ed loved woodworking. He also enjoyed fishing and watching sporting events on TV. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye, Kansas City Chiefs and Atlanta Braves fan. He also looked forward to watching his grandchildren play in their school sporting events. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Shenandoah and the Handyman's Club.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernie Bramble; his grandparents; his son, Patrick Bramble; and two brother-in-laws, Larry Hedlund and Kenny Adair.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Bramble of Shenandoah; his children, Andy Bramble of Overland Park, Kan., Rod Bramble and his wife Heidi of Storm Lake, Angie Kinney and her husband Calvin of Essex; four grandchildren, Courtney Kinney, Caleb Kinney, Colby Kinney, Cameron Kinney; one great-granddaughter, Aalyiah Kinney; his mother and step-father, Margie and Wes Fritz of Fonda; two brothers, Denny Bramble and his wife Jean of Overland Park, Kan., Tim Bramble and his wife Pam of San Antonio, Texas; a sister, Tari Waterman and her husband Steve of Brookings, S.D.; three sisters-in-law, Deloris Smith of Shenandoah, Jo Hedlund of Shenandoah, Virginia Smith and her husband Bruce of Papillion, Neb.; along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Kirsch Funeral Chapel in Shenandoah. Burial will be in the Keokuk National Cemetery at Keokuk, on Wednesday, Aug. 24. Visitation with the family present took place on Monday evening, Aug. 22 at the Kirsch Funeral Chapel in Shenandoah. Memorials are suggested to the Ed Bramble Memorial Fund.
