Thelma Reynolds, age 94, of Storm Lake, and formerly of Marathon, died Saturday, June 4, 2011 at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Funeral services were Wednesday, June 8, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Marathon. Burial was in the Poland Township Cemetery in Marathon. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake was in charge of the arrangements.
Thelma Katherine Fox, the daughter of Edward and Clara (Helmcamp) Fox, was born in Grandy, Neb. on March 24, 1917. Thelma lived her youth on a farm near Garfield Table, Neb. and received her education in Arnold, Neb. where she graduated from high school.
On June 2, 1936, Thelma was united in marriage to Bernard Reynolds in Stapleton, Neb. Together, this couple was blessed with two children: Morris and Joan. During their married lifetime, Thelma and Bernard lived in Stapleton, Broken Bow and Tilden, Nebraska before moving to Marathon in 1980. Bernard died in1989. Thelma later moved to Storm Lake, and had made her home at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community since March 17, 2004.
Thelma was an avid reader and also had a talent for sewing. Even in her later years, Thelma received her exercise from walking as much as five miles a day.
Thelma's life will always be celebrated and honored by her children: Joan and Bob Anderson of Marathon; daughter-in-law, Peg Reynolds of Lincoln, Neb.; grandchildren: Chad (Kim) Anderson; Bobbi (Darren) Epperson; Lacey (T.J.) Schmidt; Sandy Reynolds; Kay (John) Connelley; Josh Reynolds; and Molly Reynolds; great grandchildren: Emma and Sam Connelley; Alex and Amanda Epperson; and Amaya and Gabrielle Garrett; brother, Ben (MaryAnn) Fox of Arnold, Nebraska; other extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bernard; son, Morris; and three brothers: Bill, Walter and Cyrus.
