Alice Fletcher, age 90, of Holstein, and formerly of Ida Grove, died Sunday, May 29, 2011, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 31, at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove. The Reverend Adam Peck officiated, burial followed in the Ida Grove Cemetery. Condolences may be sent online to www.christensenhuffman.com.

Born March 10, 1921, in Denison, Alice Doris Fletcher was the daughter of Bert and Marie (Petersen) Hansen Freed. She grew up and received her education in Ida Grove and the surrounding areas.

On Jan. 6, 1941, Alice was united in marriage to Burdette G. "Bob" Fletcher. The couple made their home in Ida Grove, where they raised their family and operated the B & A Café. They retired in the mid 70's. Alice kept busy in her retirement years cleaning for several area establishments, including the Church of God, the Masonic Hall, and the Kurley Kue Beauty Salon. In May of 2009, she became a resident of Char-Mac Assisted Living in Holstein.

Alice was a baptized member of Winebrenner Church of God in Ida Grove. She enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and having coffee with her friends each morning. She especially loved time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include three children and their spouses, Reta "Peaches" and Larry Campbell of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Burdette "Bob" and Karen Fletcher, Jr. of Newell, and Kae Lynn and Jeff Luchtel of Milford; seven grandchildren, Kim, Tammy, Todd, Jodi, Tyson, Clayton, and Matt; 17 great-grandchildren; and ten great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband Bob in 1988; her parents; five brothers; and four sisters.
